With Christmas days away, shipping companies like UPS, FedEx, and USPS are working long hours to make sure your packages get delivered on time.
KATC caught up with a USPS factor to find out more about what it’s like to make deliveries during the hectic peak holiday season.
Tiffany Rubin says that this time of year the Postal Service sees an influx of packages.
âThis season right now, what we call peak season. Worldwide, we have about 200 million packages that are going to be delivered this week alone. 29 million, like, per day, so that’s a lot this year. Usually starts after Halloween, it gets a lot of people, but especially in December it is peak season. “
Rubin says it’s important for people to be patient with delivery services during the holidays.
“They’re tracking their package every day so we have to let them know that, you know, be patient. It’s the holidays, it happens, you know, but it’s there, it happens.”
With so many people shopping online, Rubin says there’s a lot to catch up on.
âMore people are using the online services instead of going inside the store, so it’s so much that we have to catch up. So because of COVID, they couldn’t go to the stores, so we were the link between stores and people. It was a lot. And between last year and now, I would say last year has been a little worse. This year has calmed down a bit, but COVID is us really took a hit. ”
“It takes us longer to go out, to deliver the packages, so it takes us longer to deliver our route. And if we’re short, we have to deliver other routes as well, so we could deliver as a route. and one half every day, so it’s late, “she added.
